Whenever there’s a natural disaster, severe weather or other crisis and you need help, remember you have access 24/7, 365 days a year to OnStar. As an OnStar Member, your safety is our priority, and our Crisis Assist1 services are available at no additional charge with any paid service plan — Protection, Security or Guidance. Think of OnStar as a central point of contact when you encounter situations or conditions that are difficult, whether you need Emergency assistance or help finding shelter or connecting to your loved ones.

Here are five key ways in which OnStar Crisis Assist works to provide valuable help.


Advisors are available 24/7/365

Our Advisors are available to answer calls for help and ready to assist Members around the clock — no matter what the disaster or weather conditions. And if you need emergency help, know that OnStar Emergency Advisors are Emergency Medical Dispatch–certified, having completed extensive training to provide critical medical direction as needed until first responders arrive. This can be lifesaving, particularly during times when emergency help might be delayed because of the conditions.

Regardless of where you live or travel, you can rely on OnStar to help in everything from flash floods to tornadoes and hurricanes. Whether you are stranded in your home or traveling, remember we are here to help during events such as:

When you contact OnStar during severe weather or a disaster, tell the Advisor your situation and what you need. We will do what we can to help. OnStar monitors disasters and severe weather 24/7 so we can be better prepared to help

OnStar has a central Command Center that monitors severe weather and disaster situations 24/7 so we can notify and prepare our Advisors to better help you. In times of disaster, you might not have access to critical situational information you need. Our Command Center team works to stay on top of events as they unfold and gather information, which may include instructions from your local authorities. If we don't have the information, we will make the necessary calls.
